Anoop Prakash is driving the Harley-Davidson team forward

Anoop Prakash was until recently the Managing Director  of Harley-Davidson in Canada. He was the key person to oversee subsidiaries and that included everything from the dealerships to delivering customer experience to sales and marketing and operations. He ramped up growth plans and added new dealerships.

Prakash studied at Stanford, has an MBA from Harvard Business School and had worked with top-notch companies before moving to Harley-Davidson. He was Deputy Chief of Staff at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development; Associate Administrator, Office of Entepreneurial Development, US Small Business Administration; Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, at LexisNexis; Director, Business Development at Siebel Systems; and Senior Associate and management consultant at McKinsey and Company. He was also Captain Intelligence Officer with the Marine Corps – an experience which honed leadership skills, he says.

Born in the American midwest to parents who moved there from Delhi, Prakash moved to Canada in 2015.

“The country is so welcoming, it offers so much hope to new Canadians,” says Prakash.

He tells newcomers not to underestimate their skills and experiences. “Newcomers tend to lose confidence because of some barriers they face, but they should hold fast to the belief that their skills are very applicable here. Don’t let barriers inhibit your sense of accomplishment. Remember that in the west it is about merit, grit and smarts, but equally about being part of a team, of a community and of collaboration. It’s not important to be right all of the time, but more important to drive the team forward.”

Prakash is now driving his team forward in his new role spearheading Harley-Davidson’s marketing in the United States.
