Education and knowledge are the best weapons against stigma, says Dr Arun Ravindran


Dr Arun Ravindran was born in Sri Lanka and did his PhD in behavioral neurosciences in the UK before coming to Canada in 1984.

He is clinical director, Mood & Anxiety program, at the Centre for Addiction And Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto.

Dr Ravindran is also the chair of the Canadian chapter of the South Asian Forum, an international forum of South Asian physicians and mental health professionals working to change the perception of mental illness and improve access to mental health in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Australia, UK, etc.

Education and knowledge are the best weapons against stigma, says Dr. Ravindran.

Dr Ravindran’s clinical and research interest is in the area of mood and anxiety and related spectrum disorders and include a randomized, controlled trial of the safety and effectiveness of Sudarshan Kriya Yoga as augmentation in improving residual symptoms and prevention of relapse in bipolar disorder.
