Community activist honoured

Mississauga resident and Assistant Crown Attorney Sunita Malik was presented a Diamond Jubilee medal by MPP Amrit Mangat to express the exceptional contributions made to the province and country.

Malik is a criminal lawyer, an Assistant Crown Attorney for Etobicoke region, a volunteer with the Canadian Association of South Asian Lawyers, the South Asian Women’s Centre, a board director with India Rainbow of Peel, and a mentor of youth-at-risk at the Ontario Justice Education Network.

“This medal pays special tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the throne and honours her lifelong commitment to her responsibilities, by recognizing those who have made significant contributions to Ontario and Canada,” said Mangat, MPP for Mississauga-Brampton South.

“I am proud to have been given this opportunity to recognize local recipients as outstanding citizens,” said Mangat.

Their spirit of contribution is fittingly recognized with this Diamond Jubilee medal, and we are blessed to have them in our community,” said Mangat.

Evidently, Sunita Malik serves as an inspiration to all newcomers.
